Le bien-être social au Burkina Faso: Quelle est la place des structures familiales?

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide conceptual framework to analyze the determinants of social well-being and also to analyze the place of family structures (household composition, marital status of head of household, household size) in population social well-being in Burkina Faso. Using data from the Multisectoral Continuous Survey, with various methods of statistical analysis, the results reveal a predominant role of women as spouses for social well-being. When the relationship is very close, social well-being is better but the effect is greater when relations are not conflicting. In addition, it seems to exist an optimal household size in Burkina Faso to hope better social well-being. These results suggest the implementation of social policies that improve access to health care and education, flexibility in the workplace. If these measures are adopted and implemented effectively, they could greatly contribute to improving social well-being. The results obtained need also to be in-depth using longitudinal data in order to take accounts the dynamics of family structures to best oriented policies.
