Effet de la diversification des exportations sur les émission de CO2 dans les pays de la CEDEAO

Abstract
This article examines the impact of export diversification on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in ECOWAS countries from 1980 to 2014. The Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) method was used to estimate the long-term relationship. Our observation is that the Kuznets environmental curve is not valid for ECOWAS countries. Moreover, the impact of export diversification on CO2 emissions is influenced by its direction (extensive margin or intensive margin). Diversification at the extensive margin is associated with a reduction in CO2 emissions, while diversification at the intensive margin increases pollution in the studied countries. In order to enhance their development and contribute to CO2 emission reduction efforts, ECOWAS countries would benefit from using new products instead of relying on traditional ones.
