Income Inequality and Tax Redistribution in Taiwan’s Democratization
Abstract
Although poor people are the majority and they vote sincerely under democracy, an equilibrium tax rate is still not the most favorable to themselves. This research uses Taiwan’s democratization to show that this is the case in large part because median voters in the spectrum of ideology are educated better and wealthier than polarized voters.
